وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِسْمَٰعِيلَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًۭا نَّبِيًّۭا ﴿٥٤﴾
Y recuerda en la Escritura a Ismael. Fue cumplidor de su promesa. Fue enviado, profeta.

True to his promise
Allah says Ismail was true to his promise, a messenger and a prophet. He told his family to pray and give zakah, and he was pleasing to his Lord.

وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيًّۭا ﴿٥٥﴾
Prescribía a su gente la azalá y el azaque, y fue bien visto de su Señor.
Raising the House
With his father Ibrahim he raises the foundations of the House. They pray: “Our Lord, accept this from us. Make us Muslims to You, and from our descendants a Muslim nation.”

وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَٰهِۦمُ ٱلْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ ٱلْبَيْتِ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلُ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّآ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ﴿١٢٧﴾
Y cuando Abraham e Ismael levantaban los cimientos de la Casa: «¡Señor, acéptanoslo! ¡Tú eres Quien todo lo oye, Quien todo lo sabe!
رَبَّنَا وَٱجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنَآ أُمَّةًۭ مُّسْلِمَةًۭ لَّكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَآ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ﴿١٢٨﴾
¡Y haz, Señor, que nos sometamos a Ti, haz de nuestra descendencia una comunidad sumisa a Ti, muéstranos nuestros ritos y vuélvete a nosotros! ¡Tú eres, ciertamente, el Indulgente, el Misericordioso!
رَبَّنَا وَٱبْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًۭا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ﴿١٢٩﴾
¡Señor! Suscita entre ellos a un Enviado de su estirpe que les recite Tus aleyas y les enseñe la Escritura y la Sabiduría les purifique! Tú eres, ciertamente, el Poderoso, el Sabio».
The valley by the Sacred House
Ibrahim says he settled some of his descendants in a valley without cultivation near the Sacred House, so that they may establish prayer, and asks that hearts incline to them and that they be provided with fruits. He praises Allah who gave him Ismail and Ishaq in old age.

رَّبَّنَآ إِنِّىٓ أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِى بِوَادٍ غَيْرِ ذِى زَرْعٍ عِندَ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْمُحَرَّمِ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱجْعَلْ أَفْـِٔدَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ تَهْوِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ وَٱرْزُقْهُم مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَ ﴿٣٧﴾
¡Señor! He establecido a parte de mi descendencia en un valle sin cultivar, junto a tu Casa Sagrada, ¡Señor!, para que hagan la azalá. ¡Haz que los corazones de algunos hombres sean afectuosos con ellos! ¡Provéeles de frutos! Quizás, así, sean agradecidos.
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِى وَمَا نُعْلِنُ ۗ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ ﴿٣٨﴾
¡Señor! Tú sabes bien lo que ocultamos y lo que manifestamos. No hay nada, en la tierra como en el cielo, que se esconda a Alá.
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى وَهَبَ لِى عَلَى ٱلْكِبَرِ إِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّى لَسَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ ﴿٣٩﴾
¡Alabado sea Alá, Que, a pesar de mi vejez, me ha regalado a Ismael e Isaac! Mi Señor oye, ciertamente, a quien Le invoca.
