Sources and editorial policy
Religious content needs care. This page explains where our information comes from, how we write and how we correct mistakes.
Who publishes Muslim Flow
Muslim Flow is published by the team behind the Muslim Flow Android app. It offers free Islamic tools and educational content in 28 languages.
We are not a religious authority and we do not issue fatwas. You can reach us at any time on the Contact page.
Where our information comes from
- Quran text and translations come from alquran.cloud. The translator is named under the verses on each page.
- Quran audio comes from everyayah.com, with recitations by well-known reciters.
- Prayer times come from the AlAdhan service, and from JAKIM for Malaysia. Your location is used only in your browser to ask for the times.
- Hadith texts and grades come from an open hadith database. Each grade is the judgement of a named scholar, and scholars may differ.
- Articles, fiqh pages, halal and haram pages and the answers in Questions about Islam are written for Muslim Flow from the Quran, authentic hadith and mainstream scholarship of the four Sunni schools.
How we write and check
We write in plain language so that everyone can follow. We give references for Quran verses and name the hadith collection when we cite a report.
Where the four schools of fiqh differ, we say that scholars differ and describe the main views briefly. We check each article against its sources before publishing and again when a reader reports a problem.
Each article shows the sources it relies on at the bottom of the page.
Translations
Muslim Flow is available in 28 languages. Translations are prepared with machine assistance and improved over time with the help of readers. English and Arabic are our reference versions.
The Arabic text of the Quran is always the authority. A translation only explains its meaning.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, please write to us with the page address and what should change. We review reports, fix verified errors and update the page.
Corrections of religious content are given the highest priority.
What this site is not
Muslim Flow is for study and general information. It is not a fatwa and not a replacement for a qualified scholar. For your own situation, ask a scholar you trust.
Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice.
Advertising
Muslim Flow may show advertising served by Google to help cover the costs of running the site. Advertisers do not decide what we write, and ads are kept separate from our content.
