About this list
The list follows the narration of Abu Hurayrah in Jami' at-Tirmidhi (no. 3507). The hadith that Allah has ninety-nine names is in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. Scholars note that the enumeration itself was added by a narrator and that other names are also found in the Quran and the Sunnah, so this is a well-known compilation rather than a closed count. Quran references are listed only for verses where the name itself appears. The meanings are short, widely accepted glosses.
