وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿١٠٧﴾
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
Muhammad ﷺ (circa 570–632 d.C.) nacque alla Mecca ed è l'ultimo profeta di Dio. All'età di 40 anni ricevette la prima rivelazione del Corano, e per i 23 anni successivi chiamò le persone ad adorare Dio soltanto e a vivere con giustizia e misericordia.
Era orfano, cresciuto dal nonno e dallo zio, ed era noto alla Mecca come «il Veritiero» e «l'Affidabile» molto prima di essere profeta. Lavorava come mercante e sposò Khadijah, una donna d'affari, che fu la prima persona a credere in lui.
Il suo popolo perseguitò lui e i suoi seguaci per tredici anni alla Mecca. Poi emigrò a Medina, dove costruì una comunità, stipulò trattati e, dopo che i musulmani furono attaccati, li difese. Prima di morire, tornò alla Mecca e perdonò le persone che lo avevano combattuto. I musulmani lo amano e seguono il suo esempio, ma non lo adorano: era un essere umano e il servo e messaggero di Dio.
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ﴿١٠٧﴾
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍۢ ﴿٤﴾
And indeed, you are of a great moral character.
لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌۭ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْءَاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا ﴿٢١﴾
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.
مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٍۢ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا ﴿٤٠﴾
Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing.
