Is it haram to deprive heirs of their share of inheritance?

Yes. Allah fixed the shares of inheritance and called them limits set by Him (4:11-14). It is not allowed to cut out a rightful heir, or to give one child more than the others without a lawful reason, in order to change what Allah has ordained.

Quran

A quien, al contrario, desobedezca a Alá y a Su Enviado y viole Sus leyes. Él le introducirá en un Fuego, eternamente. Tendrá un castigo humillante.
