Contemporary scholars differ. Some permit holding and trading it as a digital asset or medium of exchange when it has real use and is traded without interest or deception. Others forbid it because of heavy speculation, uncertainty (gharar), the risk of losing everything and its use in crime. يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٍۢ مِّنكُمْ ۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًۭا ﴿٢٩﴾
Yã ku waɗanda suka yi ĩmãni! Kada ku ci dũkiyõyinku a tsakãninku da yaudara, fãce idan ya kasance, daga fatauci ne, bisa yardatayya daga gare ku. Kuma kada ku kashe kãnku. Lalle ne Allah Yã kasance, game da ku, Mai jin ƙai ne.
